CALL KIMONO

A new style of kimono proposed by a Japanese dressmaker. Call Kimono is truly a family business with current designers and brothers, Motoyama Takumi and Seiya Motoyama leading the charge. However the roots go all the way back to their grandfather Kanera Motoyama, in Nagasaki who established the Wasai Gakuin, a kimono sewing company and a training school for wasai teachers ((the making of wafuku, or Japanese traditional clothing). The academy has expanded to the extent that four schools have been established in Kyushu, and their grandfather became the 13th chairman of the National Federation of Japanese Wasai Dressing Organizations, as he devoted himself to the progress of Japanese wasai.

“We are convinced that the kimono created by utilizing the wisdom and technology cultivated by our predecessors and interweaving modern sensibilities and trends will truly become a new culture for Japan. The kimono has a feeling of valuing things and it’s the sustainability that makes it possible.”

“I had a lot of fun working together with THE TEAM. The photos were quite complete and they took beautiful pictures. I want to work with you again!”
